Hundreds of millions of dollars found new bank accounts this year thanks to several multi-million dollar listings. South Florida’s idyllic climate and diverse cultural landscape continue to attract the world’s elite to coastal living. Real estate experts at Realtor.com helped New Times find the most expensive homes sold in Florida this year, including those in South Florida.
According to Realtor.com data, here are the top ten most expensive homes sold in South Florida this year:
1. 41 Arvida Parkway, Coral Gables

Topping the list at a reported sale price of $50 million, this Coral Gables estate could easily be confused with a small luxury resort getaway. The interior is practically the pinnacle of modern luxury, with artisan designs everywhere you look. The eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half bathroom home sold in October.
But what kind of extravagant person purchased this decadent property? International pop phenom The Weeknd, who will have plenty of space to pine for love and conjure more captivating lyrics for which he’s become so well known.
2. 1400 S Ocean Blvd., Manalapan

This Mediterranean-inspired estate came in less than $1 million shy of the No. 1 mark, selling for about $49.1 million in January. The seven-bedroom, nine-and-a-half bathroom home has all the amenities one could want in a beachside home, including multiple resort-style pools, a guest home, gym, massive wine room, and multiple kitchens. The home’s most captivating feature, however, might lie in the atrium, where a curved staircase stretches like a nobleman bowing deeply with a flourish of his arm.
David Frecka, founder of plastic company Next Generation Films, bought the home with his wife, real estate mogul Kimberlie Glaser.
3. 1519 N Ocean Way, Palm Beach

This $48.5 million estate is shrouded in charm and could easily be the backdrop for the climax of any romance movie where the desperate man searches for his lover at a masquerade ball. And like a coy princess hiding her beauty behind a mask, the home seems to wear the surrounding South Florida trees like an elegant coat. The nine-bedroom, 11-and-a-half bathroom home turns 90 next year. Hotel tycoons Duane and Kelly Roberts bought the home in May.
4. 1230 S Ocean Blvd., Palm Beach

French and Greek architectural influences abound in this stately, veritably royal, home in Palm Beach. Manicured courtyards are arranged with a whimsical symmetry seemingly designed for the Red Queen. Attorney and founder of West Publishing, Dwight D. Opperman, bought the home in February for $40 million.
5. 555 Reinante Ave., Coral Gables

Another sterling estate on a private tropical peninsula, this mansion boasts its own dock, commanding views of Biscayne Bay from the Old Cutler neighborhood of Coral Gables. A New York City-based company, King William II LLC., bought the home for $40 million in July.
6. 320 S Beach Road, Jupiter Island
In what could be the most extravagant and decadently designed homes on the list, this eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half bathroom home is also the youngest, at only five years old. Intricate designs are an inescapable sight throughout this home. Interior designers seemingly didn’t leave an inch of white space, as if someone organized Leonardo da Vinci’s meandering notebooks. The house sold for $39 million in January.
7. 9200 Rockybrook Way, Delray Beach
Calling this absolute titan of a building a house is like calling a mega yacht a boat. Sitting on a little more than 2.5 acres, this sprawling mansion has courtyards, a tennis court, hidden driveway, massage room, and elegance everywhere you turn. Dubbed the Sundara Estate, the home is every bit as majestic as its name. It sold for $37 million in October.
8. 43 Star Island Drive, Miami Beach
This $36 million home, which sold in August, looks like a Mediterranean castle with a square spire overlooking the backyard. Like any bayfront home worth its salt, it features a yacht dock. The home’s wide-open backyard is perfect for entertaining, replete with a pool and a spacious, covered patio. Somewhat of a rarity among luxury listings in South Florida, the home also features a sizable workshop.
9. 7725 Atlantic Way, Miami Beach
The smallest estate on the list, at 7,650 square feet on less than half an acre, this home packs plenty of opulence in a small space. Sharp lines and bold outlines draw the eye across more than a dozen carefully crafted rooms. Miami business attorney Greg Herskowitz bought the home in February for $35.6 million.
10. 1821 W 27th St., Miami Beach
Pictures of this Spanish-inspired Mediterranean home, which sold in October for $34 million, were difficult to find. The seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom home, built in 1940, sits on the bay side of Miami Beach.
