$7,500

OK, meme over. The Harlem Shake officially died yesterday in the Florida Senate.

Yes, our legislators took on the popular meme, but not everything went well. Apparently, Republican Sen. David Simmons decided not to partake and got yelled at by a colleague who shouted, “C’mon, Simmons! For God’s sake, dance.”

The full video has not seen the light of day, but the Orlando Sentinel scored video of the filming.

The video was filmed for the upcoming 58th (sometimes-) annual Capitol Press Corp Skits, which is a benefit for journalism scholarships. So at least they’re embarrassing themselves for a good cause.
