South Floridians are taking to the streets to protest the recent shooting death of mother Renee Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.

On January 7, the 37-year-old mother of three and award-winning poet was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis while she appeared to attempt to drive away from several officers who ordered her to exit her vehicle. Good had reportedly just dropped off her 6-year-old son at school and was driving home with her partner when they encountered a group of ICE agents on a snowy street.

Video footage shows Good’s partner filming as ICE agents approached her Honda Pilot. After Good was shot, the vehicle careened forward, crashing into other cars on the street. Her partner is then seen chasing after the vehicle before collapsing to the ground in tears.

“They shot my wife,” she could be heard wailing.

The incident has ignited a national firestorm, with Minneapolis leaders condemning the ICE agents’ actions and others like Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic House minority leader, calling Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem a “stone cold liar” for her efforts to falsely paint Good as a “domestic terrorist.”
