Since Donald Trump returned to the White House last month and signed a dizzying flurry of executive orders – impacting everything from immigration to climate change to federal diversity programs – protests have started to pop up nationwide.
On Sunday, demonstrators opposing Trump’s harsh immigration crackdown shut down a major freeway in Los Angeles. Other protests have recently erupted in places like North Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma.
If you’ve been wondering when South Florida would see its own protests, now’s the time.
People across the country have taken to Reddit to organize against Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, planning a protest called “50501” – 50 protests in one day, each at a state capitol, on Wednesday, February 5.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If Miami New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
While there will be a protest at Florida’s State Capitol in Tallahassee that day, another is also planned for South Florida.
