Oh, how we long for the loss of former Congressman Alan Grayson. He was the best source in Florida politics for "Wait, did that really just come out of his crazy mouth?" stories.
Luckily, Rep. Allen West has picked up the slack in that department. The loudmouthed Tea Party Republican from Palm Beach County spews crazy for days. In fact, he's blaming America's weakness on liberal woman who are "neutering American men."
West spoke last week at a meeting of the Women Impacting the Nation (WIN) group in Boca Raton. The group leans right and supports the "Judeo-Christian values upon which our country is founded."
West took the opportunity to spew some misogynist crap about how women's main role is to support the men who lead, and not take leadership roles themselves. He also says America is "at a point of incredible weakness" (so patriotic!) and blames advocates for women's rights for "neutering" American men.
Here's his most controversial statement:
"We need you to come in and lock shields, and strengthen up the men who are going to the fight for you. To let these other women know on the other side -- these Planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women that have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness -- to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That's what we need you to do. Because if you don't, then the debt will continue to grow... deficits will continue to grow."
We understand the controversy around Planned Parenthood, but what exactly does that organization have to do with the growing national debt?
West also used some "historical fiction" to prove his point. According to Think Progress, he cited examples from movies such as 300 and The Last Samurai. Gee, conservatives usually hate Hollywood, but they do seem to favor the movie industry's blatant sexism.

You know, Grayson and West have nothing in common politically, but strikingly similar are their somewhat extreme politics, loud mouths, and the fact they were elected in Florida districts that usually swing the other way during particularly good years for their party.
We wouldn't be surprised if West in a few short terms met a fate similar as Grayson and found himself out of office. Then maybe CNN could pick them up for a Crossfire-style show called Alan vs. Allen in which they compete for points awarded for outrageous statements.
