Yesterday, a WSVN report on a Miramar man who was shot to death in front of his three young children and wife included a quote from a neighbor claiming the man was “best friends” with Miami rapper Rick Ross. Though no one could confirm the relationship this set off a minor splash in the rap blogosphere. Late last night however Ross confirmed his friendship with the man on Twitter.

Raymond Adderly Jr. was returning to his Miramar home on Tuesday after attending a Christmas party with his kids. At about 9 p.m. multiple people wearing masks approached the family home along 24th Street and Southwest 83rd Avenue in Miramar, and shot Adderly to death in front of his wife and children aged 3, 5 and 7. The rest of the family managed to escape the attackers by fleeing in their car.

“We do know there are multiple suspects,” Tania Rues of Miramar Police told WSVN. “They approached the homeowner, as he was approaching the residence.”

Police believe Adderly was intentionally targeted, and the incident was not a botched robbery.

Neighbors told the station he worked in the music industry, and that they often saw cars parked outside his home with graphics promoting local rappers like Flo Rida and Rick Ross.

One neighbor and friends said the he was “best friends” with Ross. Ross confirmed this by eulogizing Adderly on Twitter late last night.
Adderly was an aspiring rapper who went under the name “P-Nut,” (but does not appear to be the same as DJ PNut of the Street Connect DJs, which also has ties to Ross). His exact connection to Ross or place in the music industry is still not known.
