A team of armed intruders took Tekashi 6ix9ine’s 60-year-old mother hostage during a daring evening heist in Wellington on Sunday, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) confirmed to New Times.
Harrowing video of the home invasion posted by TMZ shows a group of hooded figures leading the famous rapper’s mom around with what appeared to be handguns. The rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is known for his trademark rainbow braids, colorful tattoos, legal battles, and provocative social media presence. He was away from home live-streaming with Jack Doherty, who Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine called a “shithead” over the weekend for antics that led to his arrest the night before.
The gunmen were hunting for cash and car keys at Tekashi’s Duckweed Road address just before 10 p.m., PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in a statement. The masked intruders left before deputies arrived.
“Upon arrival, deputies made contact with several individuals inside the residence who reported that four armed, masked men entered the home with handguns,” Barbera wrote in the statement. “They stated that the homeowner’s mother was held physically outside while the remaining suspects ran inside and ransacked the property. The suspects asked for cash and car keys.”

Deputies were unable to find the suspects, who possibly left in a vehicle before deputies arrived, Barbera continued.
Tekashi rose to fame as a rapper in 2017 and is known for his screaming style, which has earned him multiple platinum singles and at least one platinum album. He is perhaps even more notorious for a series of legal troubles. He pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance charge in 2015; he was charged with racketeering conspiracy and firearms offenses as a member of Nine Trey Gangers Blood gang in 2019, and, closer to home, Florida Highway Patrol officers pulled him over on the Florida Turnpike driving his rare Lamborghini at 136 mph.
According to court records, Tekashi allegedly reached that speed in his 2018 Lamborghini SUV before police pulled him over at about 2 a.m. in June 2023 near Turnpike mile marker 86 in Palm Beach County. The Florida Highway Patrol issued Tekashi a speeding ticket and a citation for not having proof of insurance, along with a misdemeanor count for purported failure to register the vehicle, all of which carry potential fines exceeding $1,500.
