Would you have your toe crushed if it meant you got to meet Oprah Winfrey?
Lori Geller Bender didn't have a choice in the matter, but this past Saturday she narrowly avoided a trip to the hospital and got a picture with Oprah after the mogul's SUV accidentally ran over her foot.
Oprah, who was in town for her event the Life You Want Weekend, was dining at celebrity hotspot Prime 112, naturally. After finishing her meal, she made a beeline for her waiting SUV to avoid paparazzi.
Bender, a 44-year-old mother of two who lives in Parkland, just happened to be arriving at the restaurant with her husband.
As soon as Oprah got into the SUV, her driver began to take off, but Bender's toe was caught underneath.
"I could see a big crowd of security guards, and as soon as Oprah got into the car, it pulled out from the curb, and a wheel went over my foot," she told Page Six. "I was wearing heels, my toe was trapped under the wheel, and I fell to the ground, hitting my coccyx and my head."
Her husband pounded on the SUV's window to get the driver's attention. Oprah herself got out to apologize to Bender.
"She couldn't have been nicer and more gracious," she says. "She looked really shocked and asked me if I was OK, and took a good look at my foot. I wasn't hurt, and I told her I was fine. Oprah said, 'Well, that's worth a picture,' and she put her arm around me and we took some photos."
Oprah, by the way, was dining with BFF Gayle King. Page Six also reports she ordered a hamburger, pulled out a truffle she'd brought with her, and had the chef shave it over the burger.
