Yesterday, Trayvon Martin's still-not-arrested shooter George Zimmerman launched a website, therealgeorgezimmerman.com, where supporters can donate to his theoretical legal defense fund.

The website gained considerable media coverage last night, so a Michigan politician best known for intentionally burning down her father's house for insurance money thought this would be a great way to re-route some hits to her own website, where she's pictured dressing up in sexy costumes. So she's set up a dummy site with a similar name to steal Zimmerman-related web traffic.

God bless America?

If for some reason you were to type in therealgeorgezimmerman.net (instead of .com), you would be sent to the"fun and informative" website for Carey Torrice, who until 2011 was a commissioner for Macomb County, Michigan. On the site, she brags that it has "received over TWO MILLION hits!!"

A Whois search turns up that the domain name was purchased yesterday by Carey's private eye husband, Michael Torrice. "It's part of marketing, and part of utilizing the media," Michael told us this morning. "There are a lot of people interested in clicking his website. If somebody types it wrong, it gives a little attention to my wife's website."

He says that he and his wife don't "take a side either way" in the shooting and its aftermath, but added that he's a "right-to-bear-arms" guy.

Asked if he thought he was attempting to capitalize on a tragedy, Michael replied: "In all fairness, you turn on CNN or even your own newspaper, I consider it capitalizing on a tragedy to report stories that incite racism. CNN sells advertising. This is America. It's capitalism. We can use any needs necessary to try to affect our business."

Torrice is a movie star in such epic films as Silent Scream, Tetherball: The Movie, and Annabelle & Bear. As a licensed private eye, she also does some presumably baby daddy-related work for Maury.

Voted "Hottest Politician in the USA" by TMZ.com, Torrice was a commissioner since 2006 but lost in the last election after being accused of stalking her opponent. As a sitting commissioner, she made such politically shrewd moves as getting caught torching her dad's house for an insurance payout. We're all for unqualified candidates for local commission, but this lady feels like a new low.

So here's to you, Michael and Carey Torrice. You guys are patriots of the same ilk as the parents of the "Balloon Boy." May you get some webhits from this post.
