Shrewd move, Michael Etienne.
The North Miami city clerk revealed at a council meeting Tuesday that, while he was rooting around in the ordinance codes, he found a little section that says the city clerk is supposed to earn as much as the council members, the Miami Herald reports.
Which is great news for him, because the city council gave themselves a raise from $300 a month to $3,000 four years ago.
Etienne, elected in May, has been making $300 a month, just like his two predecessors. Now, they’re all going to get the back pay they’re owed for four years of getting paid what turns out is a tenth of what they were owed.

To further rub it in at the meeting, Etienne, whom we have not met personally but must assume has balls of steel, suggested the council “just vote your salary down right now and it will not be an issue.”
