Jack Doherty, the internet-famous dude who crashed his custom McLaren 570S sports car on Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade County while livestreaming, has quite the history of traffic violations since he moved to Miami in 2022.
Doherty's livestream from Saturday, October 5, found our hero checking his phone while cruising southbound on the turnpike in South Miami-Dade just before losing control of his custom $200,000 sports car, hydroplaning, and crashing into a guardrail.
Clips of the crash quickly went viral online, with social media users and fellow influencers dinging Doherty for appearing more concerned about his sporty two-seater than his injured wingman, who was riding shotgun.
Before this recent wreck, Doherty received numerous traffic citations in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
The Long Island, New York, native, who turned 21 today (October 8), moved to Miami in 2022 from Los Angeles after his landlord sought to evict him. He has amassed a following (and, evidently, significant wealth) from his prank and stunt videos.
Just a month before the McLaren incident, Doherty got a speeding ticket for driving 47 mph in a 25 mph zone on Stirling Road.
(The officer noted in his report that Doherty was recording the traffic stop for social media.)
A month prior, on August 19, Doherty was hit with four traffic violations when he was caught driving a golf cart on the wrong side of the road. He was cited for driving in the wrong direction, driving a golf cart on a main road, running through a stop sign, and failing to register the golf cart.
In April, Doherty was pulled over for driving his 2022 Lamborghini at a rate of 83 mph in a 45 mph zone on Pines Boulevard.
In January, Doherty received a speeding ticket in his Lamborghini for exceeding the 25 mph speed limit on Stirling Road. He was clocked at 55 mph.
(That citation notes that Doherty was recording the traffic stop for YouTube. He told the officer he'd just purchased the vehicle.)
Doherty was issued a speeding ticket in September 2023 when he was clocked doing 59 mph in Golden Beach.
In June 2023, he received a citation from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for having an improper windshield and for operating a loud exhaust system.
The car that day was the late-lamented, custom-splattered blue McLaren.
Soon after he moved to South Florida in June 2022, Doherty struck another car while driving his Tesla on North Dixie Highway in Hollywood. He received traffic citations for improperly changing lanes and not having proof of insurance.
"The driver of [vehicle 2] stated she was traveling southbound on North Dixie Highway in the far right lane when [vehicle 1] improperly changed lanes from the center thru lane and hit her vehicle," the crash report states.
