Support the independent voice of Miami and help keep the future of New Times free.

This weekend brought a flurry of Miami-related stories in newspapers around the world. Among them:

- The New York Times does Miami on a budget. The reporter and his wife spent $500.38 during a weekend making the rounds of the predictable (News Cafe, The Raleigh, Puerto Sagua) haunts.

- The London Independent's reporter reviews the bargain-priced Townhouse as a cheap accommodation on 20th Street on the Beach. This is a good article to send to your out-of-town friends and family.

- Le Monde Diplomatique from France assesses the possibility of change in the Cuban-American political ranks here in Miami. In English.

- The UK Sunday Mail shows -- with photos -- a naked Woody Harrelson, who went skinny dipping over the weekend in the Magic City. --Tamara Lush

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
