The Miami Hurricanes basketball team came into the ACC tournament seeded last with a dismal 4-12 in conference record, but have been the surprise of the tournament so-far.

After beating 5th seeded Wake Forest in the opening round, the Miami Hurricanes have shocked 4th seeded Virginia Tech in a nail biting game with a final score of 70-65. Though the Hookies lead most of the game, and at one point had a 10 point lead, the Hurricanes managed to keep the game neck-and-neck. Sealing the win in the final minute with a series of free throws.

Even though star player Dwayne Collins is out of the tournament with an injury, the Hurricanes have still played strong. Durand Scott led the team with 17 points.

Despite a 19-12 overall record, no one expected much out of Miami in the tournament. Though, both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech were two of the only four conference rivals they managed to beat in the regular season.

Now the ‘Canes advance to tomorrow’s ACC tournament where they face first seeded Duke. We all know what happened last time those teams met. We don’t know how many ‘Canes fans managed to make it up to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the game but we sure hope they have their conch horns.
