Miami-Dade: 7th Most Dangerous Metro Area

Miami Gardens has the 13th highest level of crime, according to CQ Press' just released rankings, higher than any other city in Florida. Orlando comes in at 18th, and Miami comes in at 30. Miami Beach sits at 50, just three spots behind West Palm Beach. The city with the lowest crime rates in the area is Coral Springs, which came in at 351 out of 385 cities rates.

In a separate list, Miami-Dade County came in as the 7th most dangerous metropolitan area in the country, slightly higher than its 2006 11th place ranking.

The rankings compares the rates of various serious crimes in a city, and compares them to the national average and assigns a score. New Orleans ranked #1 and had a score of 441.40. Miami Gardens and Miami scored 239.51 and 153.95, respectively. New York City, the nations largest city, comparatively had a rank of -13.57.
