The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen showed up on the House floor yesterday in a white suit with a red shirt and a gold necklace. Apparently someone informed her that her sartorial sense seemed pretty close to Scarface‘s Tony Montana, so she decided to have some fun with it on Twitter.
“Two Cuban-Americans who took different paths but both with great style!” she wrote on Twitter. “Say hello to my little gavel.”
“My #Scarface outfit yesterday MAY have inspired me to say ‘que mas carne ni mas carne, asi viene el sandwich meng,'” she added on Instagram.
We sure have come a long way from local politicians criticizing the movie as a negative portrayal of both Miami and Cuban-Americans, to the Cuban-American chair of the House foreign relations committee quoting the movie on Instagram.
