In this morning’s slow but deadly news roundup: A Hialeah man impersonates a police officer, makes off with a woman’s purse, and then gets sat on; and two terrible car accidents send multiple people to the hospital.
Hialeah resident Jorge Rodriguez-Mompierre, 30, is accused of impersonating a police officer and then snatching a woman’s purse.
The real police say Rodriguez-Mompierre approached a woman at a strip mall and identified himself as a cop despite having no badge or uniform. He then asked her questions about what she was wearing and ordered her to get into her car. He tried to get in after her, but she locked the doors. So instead, he grabbed her purse and took off.
That’s when another man chased Rodriguez-Mompierre down and sat on him until police arrived. The alleged thief has already been convicted of impersonating a police officer three separate times. [WSVN]
