On Friday, a user posted on the r/Miami subreddit a photo of a black-and-white billboard on Interstate 75 in Miramar that reads: "TARIFFS ARE A TAX ON HARDWORKING AMERICANS." The bottom left of the billboard reads, "Paid for by the Government of Canada."
Video of the billboard posted by NBC 6 shows "on hardworking Americans" swapping out for "on your grocery bill" every few seconds.
One Reddit user said they saw a similar billboard in Jacksonville; another thought they may have spotted one around the Kendall area.
"It's in Broward too as you leave the airport," someone added.
The Canadian government reportedly placed the billboards along "key highways" in 12 red-leaning states, including Georgia, Florida, Ohio, and Arizona, to warn U.S. residents that the Trump administration's looming tariffs will affect them financially.
"We need to send a message to the American people for them to understand what's at stake because this is really going to hurt their livelihood and have an impact on their wallets," Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joy told CNN on March 21. My message to hardworking Americans is please, talk to your senators. Talk to your House of Representatives. Talk to your mayors. Talk to your governors. Send a message that you don't want these tariffs because nobody will win in this approach from the White House."
Saw this sign on 95. Are ready Miami?Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the U.S. was "no longer a reliable partner" after Trump announced a 25 percent tariff on cars and parts imported into this country. Those tariffs will go into effect on April 3. Trump is also planning another round of tariffs on imported goods on April 2, or what he is calling "Liberation Day."

In a post on Truth Social around 2 a.m. on Thursday, the president threatened to place "far larger" tariffs on Canada and the European Union if they work together to "do economic harm" to the U.S. "If the European Union works with Canada to do economic harm to the USA, large-scale tariffs, far larger than currently planned, will be placed on them both in order to protect the best friend that each of those countries has ever had!" the president wrote.
Reddit users pointed out that Canada is running a better PR campaign than leading U.S. Democrats.
"Canadian government doing a better job of messaging than the useless ass Democrats," reads one comment.
"Canada 🇨🇦 coming in swinging lol," says another.
"Oooohh whoever did that is cooking," a user chimed in.
And another: "Miami Cubans will never learn even after friends and family are losing legal status."
