We don’t think anyone can accuse Fidel Castro of ever being a clear minded, rational guy, but in his old age he’s apparently becoming quite the crazy conspiracy theorist. First there were his rumblings about the Bilderberg Group, and now he thinks that Osama bin Laden is actually a CIA Agent who was working in conjunction with the Bush Administration.

“Any time Bush would stir up fear and make a big speech, bin Laden would appear threatening people with a story about what he was going to do,” Castro told state media. “Bush never lacked for bin Laden’s support. He was a subordinate.”

He made the comments while meeting with Daniel Estulin, the author of Castro’s new favorite book about the Bilderberg group. (Estulin, apparently, in the comments of the Bilderberg post called me a hack, but did invite us to try and contact him. We’ll be taking him up on that offer)

Castro says that documents posted on controversial website WikiLeaks.org prove the CIA-Al-Queda connection. We can not find the specific smoking gun document Castro is referencing, if it exists.&

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $18,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.

$30,000

Estulin told Castro that the last time bin Laden’s actual voices was heard publicly in 2001, and claims that all tapes released purporting to be bin Laden since actually used a “bad actor.”
