Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
It is important not only to know your rights when a cop shows up at your door so that you avoid extra trouble, but also to know proper procedure so that you can spot when four crooks pretending to be cops show up at your door with the intent to rob you. That’s what happened to a Homestead family this morning.
Four white Hispanic men showed up at 18695 SW 291st St. early this morning and knocked on the front door, according to NBC Miami. Though the men never pulled out badges or identification, the family — a husband, wife, and the woman’s mother — answered the door.
The family was first ordered outside, but then the men pulled out guns and ordered the family back inside.
They then demanded cash and ransacked the house. They also inflicted minor injuries on one family member.
