We were all sweet on Bobby Bowden and his retirement on Tuesday, but it appears FSU’s long time coach could screw the Miami Hurricanes one final time.

As most sentient beings are painfully aware, the current college football post-season system makes no fucking sense what so ever. As of right now, if Georgia Tech beats Clemson in the ACC championship game, Miami would then be #3 in the conference, and would normally be expected to be selected to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville to play West Virginia. A nice in-state New Years day bowl against a quality, though not terribly exciting opponent.

Well, according to The Sun-Sentinel, the organizers of the Gator Bowl, who are not obligated to stick to this gentleman’s agreement, would rather host a barely bowl eligible FSU. See, Bowden started his head coaching career with West Virginia, way back in 1872 or something. Plus it would give the old man a chance to retire with his final game in Florida.

If that should happen the Canes could go to the Champs Sports Bowl and play Wisconsin or Northwestern. Sort of a snooze, but it’s still in-state.

However, if Clemson beats Georgia Tech and heads to the Orange Bowl with an 8-4 records, which makes no fucking sense what so ever, Miami would be relegated to the Music City Bowl.

However, the wonderful people that organize that bowl are eager on the idea of hosting North Carolina and Kentucky, because both schools have elite basketball programs, which makes no fucking sense what so ever.

Then it’d be down to the Meinke Car Care Bowl, scientifically proven to be the worst named bowl ever, which is played the day after Christmas in North Carolina. The good news there is that the likely opponent would be the Canes’ old Big East foe Pittsburgh, and it would be a preview for the regular season game the two teams are playing next year. That is, if you like previews.
