Police have released the name of the victim and information that they’ve made several arrests in connection with last Saturday’s bizarre fatal shooting at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, but they remain tightlipped about other details. Among those details: a report that the victim was shot by a pimp after he tried to procure prostitutes for a night of debauchery with a friend, or what exactly caused the strange smell that wafted through the resort.
Police have identified the victim as 38-year-old Roman Gubanov, a citizen of Russia.
Miami Beach Police Chief Carlos Noriega claims to have made several arrests in connection with the shooting but won’t release the identity of those arrested, what connection they had with the crime, or whether the shooter was among those rounded up.
He also won’t confirm a CBS4 report that the shooting was perpetrated by a pimp after Gubanov and a friend tried to hire several prostitutes. Nor did he release any new information about what caused the fowl smell reported at the scene.
However, more details will be released later today.
