A Cavalcade of Dumb 2008 Political Quotes

This full rotation around the sun that we have designated as 2008 was a very busy political year. And while we may be soon saying so long to our dear President George W. Bush, thus ending a golden age of dumb political quotes, there are plenty of other blow hards and hot air machines to  fill the void. So don't worry political-gaffe lovers, South Florida's finest, and other politicians visiting town this year prove that the art of the dumb quote isn't going away any time soon. Join us now as we remember our favorites.

"You're fired ...because I'm the judge and the jury, ok. You're fired. You here me? ...You work at my pleasure. You understand what the means? It mean that you work at my pleasure ...And guess what. The only person that matters is guess who? Me." -- Out going West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney caught on tape firing his ex-mistress and, far worse, being a giant pompous ass.

"So you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did." -- John McCain's economic policy adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin while holding a Blackberry. Funny how the McCain campaign accidently sold some of there leftover miracles complete with confidential information left on the memory.

"You are either very gracious to reach out in such a bipartisan manner or had run out of folks to call if you are truly calling me and Saturday Night Live could use a good Obama impersonator like you." - Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen after hanging up on President-elect Obama twice, thinking it was a prank call.

"Wanna are it." - Superintendent Alberto Carvhalo commenting on the hairy state of a Herald reporter via text message.

"I am proud that we chose to stay positive and to run a campaign of ideas in an era [of] negative ads and cynical spin. We ran a campaign that was uplifting." --

Rudy Giuliani

during his Florida concession speech, and the last major speech of the worse presidential campaign ever. Fast forward to the RNC where Rudy gave one of the most vicious, red-meat speeches of the event. A pitbull in a combover.

"I do." - Gov. Charlie Crist

Having some sort of seizure on stage doesn't really count as a quote, but let us never forget the Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart freakout of 2008.
