Miami tops plenty of lists, from friendliest city and best for basketball fans to worst for raising kids and losing luggage. One of the more flattering lists placed four Miami-Dade County schools among the top 100 high schools in the country for the 2025-2026 school year.

Media outlet U.S. News & World Report sifts through yearly data on standardized testing and college readiness for more than 24,000 traditional public, magnet, and charter schools throughout the nation to determine its rankings. This year, it ranked Miami-Dade County Public Schools' José Martí MAST Academy (73rd), Marine Academy of Science and Technology (74th), Design and Architecture Senior High School (97th), and TERRA Environmental Research Institute (100th) in the top 100.

"The magazine evaluated all the schools using six criteria, including weighted factors like college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates," according to the outlet.
