Winter Music Conference

WMC 2012: M.A.N.D.E.A.R., DJ T, and Audiofly Headline Get Physical 10-Year Anniversary

Originally the brainchild of Berlin tech-house veterans M.A.N.D.Y., Booka Shade, and DJ T, Get Physical Music has been going strong for a full decade ago now.

In fact, Winter Music Conference 2012 marks the label's ten-year anniversary, as well as its return to Miami for yet another highly anticipated annual showcase. But it also marks a new chapter for Get Physical.

"After Booka Shade and DJ T left the label one and a half years ago, it was time to restructure everything and put the label on solid feet again," Phillipp Jung of M.A.N.D.Y. tells Crossfade.

"The company is back in strength and we are very happy how things turned out. Patrick [Bodmer] and me doing all the A&R work and really trying our best to put out all the music we love. And it really can be anything, as Patrick's and my taste vary, which is great. It's very complimentary and good for the variety of music we put out."

Now, while a ten-year anniversary might call for a big over-the-top celebration, the crew is keeping this an intimate affair. "We decided to go smaller and more intimate again -- it's just more fun and more direct," Jung says. "I am very happy about the DJs we have on board too. Matthew Dear and I are performing for the first time outside NYC as our M.A.N.D.E.A.R. project, alongside Francis Harris, Mr. C, DJ T, Tim Green, Catz 'N Dogz, Boris Werner, Shinedoe and of course my dear friends from Audiofly."

"I think already through the lineup, people can be ready to hear some very nice and diverse sets," Jung says. "We are planning a back-to-back night, so all the DJs team up to create something new and special. And of course we are all pretty good friends, knowing each other for years, so this is a key point for everyone to have fun. Never had a bad night when all the crew is together sharing the fun we have while playing."
