Meet Wet Nurse, a band that hails from Florida’s Disney-tainted underbelly, otherwise known as Orlando. And with its breast-centric moniker, there’s really no question whether the members of this garage-punk trio have girl parts or not.
These three ladies — twin sisters Nina and Susana Chaplin along with drummer Vanessa Brewster — only joined sonic forces at the end of last year. But they have been quickly breaking free of ol’ Borelando, hopping from venue to venue all across the state. And this Thursday, Wet Nurse will head south to the Magic City for a gig at Churchill’s Pub alongside surfy punks the Gutter Queens and the Gun Hoes, as well as Austin’s Little Lo.
In preparation for this show, rock out to the threesome’s EP, out on Goddess America Records, and their split seven-inch with the Lazy Boyzzz. With lyrics like, “No one’s around to give me a cigarette lighter!” these wild women take on life’s most complex problems with irreverence.
