The Culture Room's website is stating bass playing demi-god Victor Wooten is coming with drummer JD Blair to the Culture Room, but doesn't have an exact date. Still, there's plenty of reason to get excited for this show. Victor Wooten is, quite simply, one of the finest bass players playing today, and belongs in the conversation of greatest of all time. He's been playing with Bela Fleck since 1988, is the first artist to win Bass Player Magazine's Bass Player of the Year award multiple times (3 so far), and has recently branched out to write a solo record.

We know doors open at 8 pm and tickets will run $24.99, but we don't know exactly when they'll be on sale or the date of the show. A good guess would be somewhere between the Supervillain's September 19 show and Johnny Winter's October 9 show, as that's where they pasted it on the website. Hit the jump to hear a little bit of what Mr. Wooten can do, and stay tuned to Crossfade for more information as it becomes available.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
