On Saturday, November 15, President Donald Trump attended a private holiday bash at Mar-a-Lago hosted by Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt. Among the canapés and mega-donors, guests were treated to a unique performance by none other than Keith Urban — yes, the Aussie-American country star also known as Nicole Kidman’s ex — who covered Chappell Roan’s queer anthem, “Pink Pony Club.”
“President Trump at Anthony Pratt (who just so generously pledged $5 billion toward American manufacturing projects) holiday party at Mar-a-Lago #palmbeach great food, lots of French fries 🍟 Amazing people and great entertainment by Keith Urban,” wrote Instagram user @tali.florida. The post featured videos showing Trump interacting with guests and clips of Urban performing on stage.
“Pink Pony Club,” originally released in 2020, is a breakout track by Missouri-born Chappell Roan, whose glam-drag persona and queer-forward pop have turned her into one of the most exciting rising stars. In 2025, Roan received a Grammy for Best New Artist. The song, inspired by her first trip to The Abbey, a legendary gay bar in West Hollywood, is a glitter-soaked celebration of chosen families and self-discovery. “And I heard that there’s a special place / Where boys and girls can all be queens every single day,” Roan sings, in a voice that glows somewhere between siren and synth angel.

So the question is: Is Trump Woking up? It’s hard to picture his reaction to those lyrics coming out of Urban’s mouth, but the “Somebody Like You” singer has made clear the track hit him hard. According to Them, Urban said he “almost cried” the first time he heard it. “Who doesn’t wanna find a safe place, wherever that is? You just wanna find your people… somewhere where you finally realize you belong there. God, that speaks to me.”
Urban has been performing “Pink Pony Club” on previous shows. Another cover he played at Mar-a-Lago was bob Marley’s “Is This Love”According to People, Trump sat next to Pratt during the event. The billionaire recently donated $10 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign and, per Axios, pledged an additional $5 billion to support U.S. manufacturing.
