Tribeca Festival has announced it will return for Miami Art Week December 4-7 for its third edition. Dubbed Tribeca Festival at Art Basel Miami Beach, the event will take over the Miami Beach Bandshell with in-person discussions, live music, and film screenings.
It all kicks off Thursday, December 4, with a screening of the 1996 film The Birdcage, starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. An adaptation of the 1978 French film La Cage aux Folles, the movie is set in Miami Beach, with exterior shots filmed on location. After the screening, there will be a drag show.
On Friday, December 5, Miami-bred band Magdalena Bay will perform a homecoming show. The duo recently released its sophomore album, Imaginal Disk, to critical acclaim.
Then things wrap up on Saturday, December 6, with a conversation with pop star and Miami native Camila Cabello. Afterward, New York City collective Soul in the Horn takes over, with a performance by Brazilian singer-songwriter Luedji Luna and DJ sets by Natasha Diggs and L3Nii.
This is the third year Tribeca Festival hosts programming during Miami Art Week; however, this might be the first year the events center around acts and films with strong Miami ties. Previously, the festival hosted performances by Eartheater, Flying Lotus, the Dare, and Yussef Dayes, and conversations were held with Robert De Niro and Chance the Rapper.
Tickets for this year's programming are now available through tribecafilm.com/miami.
