Two local concerts of note for those making important Friday night decisions include a slate of fabulous local indie rock talent at Propaganda in Lake Worth led by West Palm Beach's the Jameses, and a spiffy pair of guys called Two Man Gentleman Band ("a fusion of vaudeville, early jazz, and old-time country that comes through like a Tin Pan Alley version of the Violent Femmes") at Poor House in Fort Lauderdale. Turns out that Mood Vane scribe Courtney Hambright wrote about both events for us in this week's print edition.

Regarding the Two Man Gentleman Band:

Side by side, Bean and Condon, with their erect posture and

wheat-colored skin, create a picture of what an American gentleman

might have looked like in the early decades of the 20th Century. What

they're actually wearing, Bean admits, are "the cheapest, best-looking

suits that we can find from a thrift store at the last town we were in"

and explains, "When we play the sort of music we play, it seems like

the fashion is from the '20s or '30s."

The Two Man Gentlemen Band, with Viva Le Vox. 10 p.m. Friday, May 14,

On the Jameses:

The threesome's first seven-inch, which features the danceable "The

Haunted Rider" and the mellow pop song "Rat People," is just in, and

Friday will be the first time the Jameses will attempt to play "Rat

People" live.
