Last year, local liquor giant Bacardi threw its hat into the music-event ring with the first edition of B-Live, an all-day, rum-fueled shebang at Bayfront Park’s ampitheater. It featured a host of unexpected artist pairings, including headliner Paul Oakenfold playing live, accompanied by a full orchestra. Although the event was well-attended, lots of folks still stayed away, as it was slotted just before Winter Music Conference.
This year, organizers have wised up and given the city’s party people a few weeks to recuperate and get excited for the second installment of the free event. And not only is it free, but it’s 21-and-over, which can only mean …. some sort of free booze! Hurrah! If you’re a fan at all of dance music, you’ve really got no excuse not to go, considering the lineup heavy on hometown favorites:
*DJ Irie — Well, this guy needs no introduction in Miami….

*DJ MomJeans — That’s Danny Masterson — yep, you’ll recognize him as the flame-haired fella from That 70s Show….
*Groove Armada — They were here during conference, but mainly for DJ sets. This time they perform live)
*Deep Dish — A nice change, considering Dubfire and Sharam seem to have mostly appeared here separately in recent months
*Cedric Gervais — Local boy and Space favorite, he just released another mix for Yoshitoshi, Yoshitoshi Space Miami Terrace
*Dave Navarro and DJ Skribble…. and a whole lot of friends — Hot on the heels of the Tommy Lee/DJ Aero pair-up, rocker Dave Navarro’s gotten deep into the dance business with the legendary DJ Skribble. And they get by with a little help from their friends, keeping alive the spirit of musical collaboration started last year at B-Live. Joining them for onstage, free-form mashups are none other than ?uestlove of the Roots, Cisco Adler (yes, gossip-blog-readers, that one), DJ Slynkee, and a talented, relative newcomer on the scene, versatile New Jersey MC J. Mello. Whew. (The common thread — with the exception of ?uestlove, they’re all represented by the taste-making agency Moodswing360).
