This Weekend Jazid Celebrates 15 Years of Live Music Every Damn Night

Do you remember when you turned 15?

Think back ... You're in high school now. You're free to apply for your restricted driver's license, and that's a step closer to freedom. Here in Miami, it probably means a quinceañera. Dude, it's kind of a momentous occasion.

Well, in clubland, where time moves in leaps and bounds, it's an even bigger deal. And that's part of the reason why Jazid celebrating its 15th anniversary this weekend is huge.

Another part of the reason is the fact that this SoBe spot has been busting its ass since day one to bring the local scene a worthwhile live music venue. And in the process, Jazid hasn't just given you a place to take in live music while getting sloshed. It's also supported many of South Florida's favorite acts.

Of course, an even bigger part of the reason is that you love to party, and Jazid knows how to do it big. The two-day anniversary celebration kicks off this Friday and rolls on till the wee hours on Sunday. To start, Friday night will feature performances by Locos Por Juana and Jahfe, while Saturday night boasts shows by Spam Allstars and Suenalo.

A few of those local favorites wanted to send the Washington Ave. jazz joint a little birthday shout out.

Camilo Sierra (Xperimento/Lanzallamas Monofonica): I would like to thank Jazid for being the longest lasting live music venue in Miami Beach! Shout outs to Daniel, Tony, Mario and all the staff and crew! Xperimento was born and nurtured at Jazid, and we are grateful for everything we have been able to accomplish there. Here's to 15 more years of live music every damn night!

Itagui Correa (Locos Por Juana/Afro-Kumbé): Really happy to celebrate the 15 years of Jazid. For me, Jazid has been my second home, my church, where I go with no fears, no limits, and no expectations--just free! Jazid needs to get the respect it deserves in the community in Miami. This Place is our CBGBs.

Amin De Jesus (Suénalo): My top five Jazid moments are (1) Meeting my beautiful wife Amanda there; (2) Jamming with Prince! Yes prince!; (3) Every Suénalo birthday we've celebrated there; (4) Falling down that staircase on a few occasions and never spilling my drink -- or dying, which involves some skill; (5) Closing the place down countless nights with Michelle, Cesare, Claire, Heather, Mario, Charlotte, and any and everyone else on the team, whether we ended up in the office, the cellar, or just hit the beach afterward. Great times.

Suénalo loves you! Happy Birthday Jazid.
