Intergalactic surf rock act The Gutter Queens is ensuring that every willing participant can have a very retro and ribald Christmas this year at the Monterey Club. Led by guitarist-vocalist Ryan Black, the Coconut Creek natives (currently students at USF in Tampa) do a mean rendition of Dick Dale’s “Misirlou” dubbed “Gutterlou.” Expect Black, drummer Ryan Kaufman, and a rotating cast of bassists to have a spooky theremin device named Groucho Marx onstage too. Plus, judging by what we gathered in a brief interview, these guys plan onstage makeout sessions with dudes and all kinds of other random debauchery. The setlist, though, will include brand-new songs in addition to material from the band’s untitled EP and recently released full-length Espacio Desnudo, which translates to “naked space.” So who knows what might unwrap Saturday night?
