Garage rock aesthetics meld with punk rock snarl in Atlanta's own rock and roll misfits the Black Lips. Fast, soulful, raging rock and roll devoid of corporate bullshit, the Lips' bare-bones garage rock harks back to the time before their Caucasian granddaddies stole the strut from African-Americans. Fans of Pussy Galore, the Sonics, Peru's Los Saicos, and Ralph Nielsen & the Chancellors will find a lot to like here. After a slew of twelve-inches and a self-titled debut on the visionary label Bomp!, the Black Lips will sear the walls off Churchill's with their newest full-length, Let It Bloom.
