Friday, February 12

*Navegante has been called "the Latin Gnarls Barkley," and he plays this Friday night at Jazid, in Miami Beach, with local trio Penelope Sky. No exact word on cover but it should be under $10. Click here for more details.

*Guess what kind of music Timba Swing plays? They keep it Cubano at Transit Lounge in Miami tonight, where there's never a cover. Click here for full details.

*A mainstay of the Tampa scene, rising jam band Cope plays the Dive Bar in Fort Lauderdale. Cover is $5. Click here for full details.

*The cheekily named Boynton Beach ska-punkers of the Hard Richards play at Propaganda in Lake Worth for $5. Click here for full details.

Saturday, February 13

*Italian producer Congorock plays White Room tonight, with his unclassifiable, lightning-speed, video-game sounding dance music. Tickets are $10 in advance. Click here for full details.

*There's another night of cheap music at Propaganda, with the swampy psychedelia of  Black Weather Shaman, Everymen, Jesse Bauman, and Redmouth. Admission is $5. Click here for full details.

*Modernesque Burlesque returns to Respectable Street in West Palm Beach; cover for what's sure to be a V-day themed performance is $10. Click here for full details.

Sunday, February 14

*Whether you want to take this as a celebration of, or a party against, love, is up to your own state of mind. Either way, Radioboxer plays an '80s-themed party at Buck 15 in South Beach Sunday night. Admission is $3, and there are drink specials all night. Click here for full details.

*And we always made fun of our parents for their hippie nostalgia. Try not to feel old at the weekly Grunge Night at Ultra Lounge in the upper reaches of Miami's MiMo district. Admission is free. Click here for full details.

*By the way, in case you missed the earlier post, there are free V-Day alternative events going on at Bar, White Room, and Cinema, all in Miami or Miami Beach.. (The Electric Pickle one might be free, too, if you show up early enough, anyways). Click here for full details.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
