Born in Trinidad and raised in New York, Timmy Regisford is known among his many fans simply as the Maestro, a nod to his flawless set-conducting techniques. Over the past two decades, Regisford has ruled NYC with precise but expressive DJ sets, and his residency at the long-running Club Shelter is the stuff of legend. Its celebrated Sunday tea dance marathons are still a city staple, in a scene known more for fly-by-nights than staying power.
Tuesday, March 23, at Shine at the Shelborne, Regisford and Shelter will celebrate 20 years of late nights and early mornings, with a lineup that also features heavy-hitters David Morales and DJ Dino. But Regisford is the man holding everything together, busting out his incomparable bag of tricks for this family reunion of a house-loving crowd. We hear they'll even sprinkle baby powder on the floor.
