L.A. bands, whether they are rappers or kitschy electronic acts, are rarely taken seriously by music critics. And Seksu Roba is no exception. But its 2003 debut album, Pleasure Vibrations, is sunny and melodic, if somewhat goofy. (One of its best songs is called “LA Freeway.”) Granted, unlike Adult or Mount Sims, Seksu Roba isn’t too cool for school; the Japanese duo makes fun music meant for dancing, not “experimental” electronic pop meant for pontificating. The band is still touring behind that debut, though, so we hope it’ll have some new songs to play once it hits the District this weekend.

Seksu Roba and Dance Jenny perform at midnight Saturday, April 2, at the District, 35 NE 40th St, Miami. Tickets cost $10. Call 305-576-7242.
