Whether art, music, or film, Miami festivals are as inescapable as the heat this summer. The seventh installment of the Rock vs. Art series sizzles amid the ranks of fellow fetes with a marriage of underground music and art. The event spans more genres than a worldly DJ's vinyl collection, with bands playing everything from hardcore, punk, and alternative rock to reggae, hip-hop, and experimental music. Rock and roll monsters Electric Frankenstein headline the event with support by the ever-lascivious Blowfly. The antics continue with performances by more than 25 bands, including Doormouse, the Down Home Southernaires, and Shuttle Lounge. Aholsniffsglue will curate the art section alongside his gang of graffiti artists and screen printers. With previous Rock vs. Art shows bringing in more than 400 people, the series is a testament against the naysayers' claim that Miami's scene leaves something to be desired. Event organizer and promoter Dominic Sirianni wants all the haters to know "Miami doesn't suck."
