Los Enanitos Verdes ("The Little Green Dwarves") are pretty much the grand daddies of alternative rock in their native Venezuela Argentina. They've been in the game a hell of a long time -- 30 years, if you count the early days, before guitarist Sergio Embroni and keyboardist Tito Dávila signed on in '84, forming the quintet that produced their groundbreaking eponymous debut disc.

These days, the original members Marciano Cantero, Felipe Staiti and Daniel Piccolo carry on, with 15 albums under their belt, and the respect and admiration of Latin rock masses at large. And you can catch them live at the Fillmore, next weekend. Once you do, the term Little Green Dwarves will hold a whole new meaning for you...one not related to Vern Troyer barfing in that episode of the Surreal Life.

Los Enanitos Verdes perform at the Fillmore Miami Beach on Sunday, September 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $28 to $138.
