Jenny Lewis‘s indie-pop band, Rilo Kiley, has broken up. And girl, it’s nasty.

Guitarist and singer Blake Sennett told Spinner.com that he initiated the bands dissolution after “a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed” and assorted other grievances. He also talked shit about the band’s last record, Under The Blacklight.

Crossfade’s immediate reaction is utter amazement that Rilo Kiley is still a band in the first place. Didn’t Jenny Lewis kick everybody to the curb like Beyonce did with Destiny’s Child, and start that weird-slash-annoying Jenny and Johnny project?

Secondly, Rilo Kiley makes us think about The Postal Service – with whom Lewis collaborated, and with whom Rilo Kiley shared an early 2000s cutesy indie scene. And that makes us think about what we were wearing ten years ago.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $18,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
