UPDATE: Rick Ross and his bodyguard, Nadrian Lateef James, were denied bond in a Fayette County court, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Ross and James will remain in jail until their next court date on July 1.

Two weeks after being busted for misdemeanor possession of marijuana in Georgia, Rick Ross has again been picked up by Fayette County authorities, but this time on a much more serious charge.

Authorities arrested Ross early this morning at his home (formerly owned by Evander Holyfield) on charges of kidnapping, aggravated  assault, and aggravated battery. One of Ross's bodyguards was also taken into custody.
Fayette County Sheriff spokesman Allen Stevens released a statement via email saying that on June 7 the department “initiated an investigation regarding an assault which occurred at a residence on Highway 279," according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The incident allegedly occurred between Ross and an employee who was doing some type of maintenance at Ross' house. Various outlets are reporting that the incident involved Ross pistol-whipping the employee. A warrant obtained by Billboard said the "Subject did assault the victim, Jonathan Zamudio, (twice), with a handgun, specifically a Glock 17, 9mm, black in color, and in doing so caused two chipped teeth, jaw injury, neck injury, and multiple scratches and contusions. The victim lost the use of his jaw and is restricted to soft foods and liquid diet only as result of not being able to chew food."

The arrest happened “without incident,” according to Stevens's statement.

New Times sat down with Ross backstage at the BB&T Center a month ago for an interview. Ross, who hails from Carol City, appeared calm and relaxed as he joked backstage with his longtime friend and fellow Carol City Native Gunplay. Ross discussed his recent weight loss and even touched upon the drive-by he fell victim to in Fort Lauderdale in 2013, shrugging it off and saying "Rozay good. This my city.”
While details remain sparse and the story is still developing, it seems Rick Ross is anything but good at the moment. Eleven hours ago he posted on Instagram and Twitter, congratulating his friend and fellow rapper Meek Mill on his new album. But for now, the rapper's future remains uncertain.

Congrats @meekmill. 6/29. Its time. #meekseason
