The club season is upon us and last Labor Day weekend kicked it off spectacularly. Of course I was buzzin’ and made it into the most exclusive engagement in months, the Ocean Drive en Español Latin Grammy afterparty at the Loews Hotel. I estimated about half a million dollars’ worth of fake boobs and a village’s worth of filthy rich old men in attendance. I couldn’t count Latin pop stars because I really don’t know any, which went for many other people who were there, too. David Bisbal was loitering around, virtually unrecognized, even after giving a dazzling performance at the actual awards show. It was South Beach’s king and queen of the glitterati, Michael Capponi and Ingrid Casares, who were in demand with the photographers, more than the honored artists themselves! Capponi (the most polite important person you ever met) was hand-in-hand with a tall, gorgeous model and Casares was with a tall, gorgeous Hilton sister — Paris, of course.
Capponi, Casares, and Paris all attended the private screening of the movie Party Monster at the Delano Hotel Saturday. The flick’s stars were there (Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green are tiny!) along with drop-ins like a Demi-less Ashton Kutcher and the more subdued Hilton babe, Nicky. By the way, David Alan Grier is a dork; he wouldn’t stop preening his ridiculous plaid pants. Anyway, Linda Marx, who was covering the event for People magazine, told me not to bother celebs with questions since they won’t answer them per publicist instructions. “So how do you fill in those People columns?” I asked her. “Well, you see what you can and you fill in the blanks,” she told me. Well, there was stuff to see at the Prive afterparty, where Ingrid showed that no man can match her dykie good looks. She and Paris were in the roped-off VIP area slipping and sliding all over each other for hours. First, Madonna (before her weathered, wrinkly skin overtook her), now a young, platinum celebutante … there’s something about Ingrid.
