Some of the perks of Peachfuzz include free entry, sweaty dancing bodies, flyers designed by Pres Rodriguez featuring a different '90s hip-hop vixen each week, and Raul Sanchez' huge Yo! MTV Raps video collection. Isn't that enough to entice you to attend the new-ish weekly night at The Garret? It should be.

Peachfuzz only started about a month and a half ago. As Promoter Raul Sanchez explains, "‪Me, Adrian [Douzmanian, AKA DJ DZA], and Pres, after Bar closed, thought we needed to have a fun party without the pretentiousness." And already, it's one of Miami's most popular downtown dance parties.

After checking out the upstairs loft at Grand Central (now known as The Garret) during Winter Music Conference, Sanchez, DZA, and Pres asked if they could throw a party there. Of course, the venue's owners agreed.

"One of things about The Garret is that it doesn't feel like you're in Miami. It feels like a warehouse in New York, Philly, or San Francisco," Sanchez notes.

Another one of Peachfuzz's perks is DZA, who's been the resident DJ at Purdy Lounge's Chocolate Sundays for about three years. ‬"Adrian [DZA] is a an amazing DJ," Sanchez gushes. "And to think, he's only 21 years old! I‪ have never met someone at that age who knows more about music‬."

Good music and good times are the Peachfuzz agenda. "W‪e wanted to have everyone dancing. It's a fun and diverse crowd that will dance to obscure hip-hop, disco/boogie, '90s house, as well A$AP Rocky and Waka Flocka." The party is hosted by Ashley Outrageous whose music blog was recognized in The Source's Digital Power 30 and the Peachfuzz crew is also planning on welcoming DJs from out of town.

Raul suggests getting there early. Last week, the party reached capacity and all of the tardy partiers got left waiting in line on the sidewalk. Just like you will if you show up at 2 a.m. or whatever.

Besides, if you get there between 11 p.m. and midnight, there's free Grolsch. This night sounds like it's all perks.

Note: Peachfuzz is a regular Friday night party. But this week, it's taking place on Thursday due to a previously scheduled event.

Peachfuzz. Thursday, December 29. The Garret at Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The entrance is located on NE Seventh Street. The party starts at 11 p.m. and there's no cover. Call 305-377-2277 or visit grandcentralmiami.com.
