Everyone grieves in different ways. Some like crying endlessly, while others just like to be left alone. But for everyone who wants to pay respect to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, while having a bit of fun -- which we'd like to think is how Michael would have wanted it -- there are a few local tribute parties that have come to our attention:

Tonight, Transit Lounge will be hosting a Michael Jackson happy hour tribute from 5 to 8 p.m. Jackson's repertoire of music and videos will be playing as you drink in memoriam.

Further north, in Miami's Design District AE District will be hosting a Jackson tribute from 8 - 11 p.m. The party will be playing all of Jackson's greatest hits courtesy of DJs Induce, Manuvers and Ideal with complimentary drinks by 42 Below.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
