Make no mistake — Paris Is Burning has nothing to do with 2005’s widespread turbulence in France, the 1966 film about the last days of German occupation in the capital, or the 1990 documentary of New York’s finest drag queens. This Paris burns in South Florida, and it’s of the anthemic, loud, hard rock variety that comes with plenty of guitars and a technically adept rhythm section. The vocals fit the bill, and apparently the bandmates’ tough looks fit the ladies’ bill too — as evidenced by numerous fan pics circulating on the Web. This big showcase gig should line up more endorsements on the group’s growing list (Halo custom guitars, Rotosound strings, and Medicine Man drums). Loud music, hot chicks, booze, and maybe a little gambling at the nearby Seminole Hard Rock Casino? That’s a far cry from Eurotrash violence or art flicks. Sort of.
