Palo! plays the sort of music that all at once soothes the soul while giving you fever.  For more cowbell?  Hell no -- to shake your ass. Theirs is a savory blend of Latin jazz, funk and Afro-Cuban with modern twists, not unlike some of their uber-funky local contemporaries Spam Allstars, Suenalo and Elastic Bond. And like the aforementioned bands, you're pretty much guaranteed a good time when you catch their live show at your local dive (unless you step in that orange and purple shit near the end of the bar). The quintet features Latin jazz phenom Ed Calle, Cuban vocalist Leslie Cartaya, Raymer Olalde, Philbert Armenteros and Steve Roitstein.

So what are you doing over Easter weekend?  ou could observe holiday traditions and wait for the Easter Bunny to hide your colored eggs, or you could head to Transit Lounge this Saturday night to enjoy Palo!'s Easter Bash, dedicated to Obatalá. Sacrifices are optional, but you're required to bring your own sacrificial goat or chicken.

As always, Transit Lounge (729 SW 1st Ave., MIami has the economically challenged in mind. There's no cover but there ARE shot specials all night.
