Florida Rapper Poorstacy died on Saturday, November 29, following an incident in Boca Raton.
Dylan Huberman, public information manager for the Boca Raton Police Department, said in a statement that the 26-year-old died “stemming from an incident” at 2899 N. Federal Highway, which is where a Quality Inn hotel is located.
According to TMZ, he had checked into the hotel with a woman and a toddler and had been staying there for ten days prior to the incident on Saturday. His cause of death has not yet been released.
The rapper, whose legal name was Carlito Milfort Jr., was known for blending emo rap, hip-hop, punk-rock, and heavy metal in his music. He worked on three songs with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and was featured on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the movie Bill & Ted Face the Music, which featured actor Keanu Reeves. He also worked closely with the Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes.

“Oli sends me clothes that he thinks look good on me,” the rapper told Revolver magazine in a 2021 interview. “He sends me handwritten letters, and we play Call of Duty until six in the fuckin’ morning.”
The magazine reported that Milfort was born in New York and lived in Brooklyn and Queens for ten years before his family moved to South Florida. He described himself as really violent and frequently wound up in juvenile detention centers because his mother got sick and his family’s financial situation.
After dropping out of high school in ninth grade, he turned his attention to music. After one of his songs blew up on SoundCloud, he signed with Internet Money Records, the same label that worked with South Florida rapper XXXTentacion. He had released a song in July called “Nothing Belongs to You.”
Comments have poured in on the rapper’s Instagram following the news of his death. In an Instagram story on Sunday, Barker wrote, “Rest in peace you’ll never be forgotten,” along with a broken heart emoji and a video of the pair performing “Hills Have Eyes.”
“Your music kept me company battling heavy addiction in the early 2020s, sad to see you go man but thankful for your music always,” one Instagram comment reads.
The rapper’s family has launched a GoFundMe to honor Milfort’s legacy, support his son, and cover medical expenses and funeral arrangements.
“It is with unimaginable heartbreak that we share the passing of Carlito Milfort Jr. — “Poor Stacy” to so many who loved him, listened to him, and grew with him through his music and his presence,” the GoFundMe states. “To us, he wasn’t just an artist. He was a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, and a light in our family.”
“Carlito touched people far beyond our home. His fans, friends, and supporters were an extension of his heart. He gave so much of himself to the world — his art, his honesty, his struggles, his joy — and he made countless people feel seen, understood, and less alone.”
