There’s plenty of hip-hop in Miami; unfortunately, only the thugged-out big dogs get any shine. That leaves little room for thoughtful artists such as Seven Star, whose debut My Mother and Father Were Astronauts has gotten more attention among discerning listeners around the country than in his hometown.
Well, rap fanatics will get a chance to catch up with Seven Star when he joins in Exodus, an early evening benefit for Camillus House, a charity that provides services for low-income and homeless people. There’ll be plenty more acts to check out that night, too, including LA rapper Murs, New York DJ Mr. Len (formerly of Company Flow), and other unheralded local artists such as Brimstone 127 (who’ll share the stage with Afrika from the Jungle Brothers) and Flow Official.
