It’s been one hell of a week for Miami’s own Bizzy Crook. Fresh off earning his first Grammy wins for his songwriting contributions to Leon Thomas’ acclaimed debut album Mutt, the rapper and songwriter is channeling that momentum straight into his next chapter. His newest single, “WDYL (What Do You Like?),” featuring multi-platinum hitmaker and EZMNY Records co-founder Ty Dolla $ign, is out now, and it arrives as a defining moment in Bizzy’s long and patient ascent.
For Bizzy, the Grammy experience still feels surreal. “It felt like a dream,” he tells New Times. “I had to pinch myself a few times. This was a dream I had when I was eight years old. It’s this far out goal for every musician at the start of their journey. We don’t even know how we’re gonna get there. It feels impossible, but it keeps us in pursuit.”
Rather than slowing him down, the whirlwind only sharpened his focus. “I left the arena inspired,” Bizzy says. “Excited to get back home and into the studio and put all this inspo to work. I’m still processing it all though. Like, did I just win a Grammy?”
That urgency is embedded in “WDYL,” a late night R&B record that captures Bizzy at a creative peak. The track blends emotional transparency, melodic confidence, and a conversational intimacy that feels effortless yet intentional. Anchored by Bizzy’s reflective delivery and elevated by Ty Dolla $ign’s unmistakable vocals, “WDYL” explores desire, communication, and connection through a modern R&B lens that feels both personal and polished.
The collaboration itself reflects the kind of artist Bizzy has aligned with during this new era. “Ty is the greatest artist to be signed to because he’s so selfless,” Bizzy says. “He takes pride in watching his artists shine. His energy is always like, ‘What do y’all need me to do?’”
Released via EZMNY Records, the label founded by Shawn Barron and Ty Dolla $ign, “WDYL” follows Bizzy’s recent single “100%” and continues a run that underscores his evolution from elite behind the scenes songwriter to fully realized recording artist.
The single also serves as a key preview of Underdogs Win Eventually, Bizzy’s upcoming major label debut project. In an exclusive shared with New Times, he reveals the album will feature Ty Dolla $ign, Leon Thomas, Rick Ross, C Stunna, Benny The Butcher, and Leven Kali, a lineup that mirrors both his Miami roots and his growing national reach.
Still, for Bizzy, the moment isn’t just about accolades or validation. It’s about endurance. After more than a decade of grinding, he sees this chapter as proof that persistence pays off and as motivation for artists still battling self doubt. “God gave you this dream for a reason. It wasn’t a coincidence,” he says. “Your contribution to humanity is through music. Do not stray off the path. It’s going to get hard. You’re going to be tested time and time again.”
His advice is blunt and hard earned. “Get away from anyone who doesn’t believe in you. I don’t care if they’re friends or family. Lock in,” Bizzy adds. “If you pass all the tests, your dream will come true and it’ll be greater than you ever imagined. It’s never over. Please never give up on that dream.”
With Grammy wins in hand and “WDYL” signaling a confident new era, Bizzy Crook keeps proving that underdogs really do win eventually.
