Unfortunately Metallica won't be joining Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer

for their October 3 performance at Bayfront Park. But they're still a band that always comes to mind when thinking of classic metal. And what's more "metal" than a band putting together an EP filled with fan bootlegs?

The band has decided to do just that, naming the limited edition EP Six Feet Down Under. It will be released on September 20 via their website, but what makes the album even more unique was the concept behind it. As their site put it:

"You guys, the fans, came to our rescue with some pretty decent bootleg options and we trimmed those down to two songs from each tour in 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2004. In digging a little deeper, it occurred to us that we had tracks that had never before been released as "live b-sides" (we're not counting the bonus songs on i-Tunes, okay?) and that that added to the adventure of pulling it all together."

As if that news weren't enough to get us moshing in excitement, they also have plans to release a joint DVD with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer titled The Big Four Live from Sofia, on October 25. Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich recently spoke to NME about the joint shows DVD, saying:
"Who would have thought that, more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe."
