The second annual Mambo and Salsa Project is a three-day event revolving around energetic performances, dance workshops, and late-night partying. The InterContinental Hotel will host the salsa smorgasbord from June 16 to 18. Friday, June 16, marks the kick-off party at Rendezvous on the Lakes, with DJs Joey G and Philly’s own José Rodriguez. Ladies receive free entry, and complimentary cosmos will be handed out to loosen limbs for some fancy footwork. On Saturday, June 17, dance workshops led by the likes of José Luis, Chris Soto, Burju Hurturk, and others will take place from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Later in the evening a dozen dance companies, including Hacha y Machete, Salsa Karibe, and Mambo con Cache take the stage for a vivacious showcase of their talents. More partying will follow the performances, as well as a tribute hour to Ray Barretto. Relax Sunday, June 18, at a pool party followed by an afterparty to conclude the three-day fiesta.
